Beginner Sea Kayaking Week
This course provides an opportunity to learn basic kayak skills and self rescue techniques in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with our expert instructors. As well as the skills development we will travel to a different venue each day allowing the group to explore some of our sheltered sea lochs and coastal islands. If the weather allows, the week will conclude with a mini two day expedition which will allow you to put your new skills into practice and at the end of the day you can enjoy watching the sun setting over the Cuillin from one of our favourite camping spots.
This is a lodge based trip and accommodation can be provided for you at the National Trust for Scotland’s Kintail Outdoor Centre. This is a self catering event so you will have to provide your own food for the week. We can also recommend local B&B accommodation if you would prefer a half or full board option.
We provide: All the kayaking equipment and give you the opportunity to try out different designs of kayaks. Cagools and wetsuits are also provided. We recommend that you take along an old pair of trainers as we find them to be better than wet shoes on the rocky shores.
2 Day Camping Trip: For those doing the 5 day course we will provide you with all the camping equipment you require. We would prefer you to use your own sleeping bags but if this is not possible we can supply a sleeping bag at an extra £20.00 (to cover the cost of cleaning). We will also supply meals for the one night camping trip. A full kit list will be provided at the time of booking.
This 2 to 5 day sea kayaking course is aimed at the first time sea kayaker or those with some limited experience looking to develop their skills so they can have the confidence to join one of our longer kayaking adventures. This course is lodge based at the Kintail Outdoor Centre. Bespoke courses can be arranged for groups of 3 or more.
