Hebrides Sea Kayaking Expedition

Our Hebrides sea kayaking expedition takes us to Harris in the Outer Hebrides, where we will camp over looking Luskentyre beach. (Voted as one of the top beaches in the UK on Trip Advisor) You will explore the now deserted islands of Taransay and Scarp with their secluded white sand beaches and turquoise waters. As you explore these rugged coastlines, our guides will share with you, their passion for the natural and curtural history of these remote Hebridean Islands. Day 1.

Your Hebridean Sea Kayaking  adventure will start at the National Trust for Scotland’s Kintail Outdoor Centre where you will be met by your guide for the week. Don’t worry if your kayaking skills are a bit rusty, as the first day will be spent on Loch Duich, familiarsing you with the kayaks you will be using. This will ensure you have the right kayak to meet your needs and ability.

Day 2.

We will see us making our way to Harris via Uig on the Isle of Skye, arriving in Harris in time to get to our first campsite overlooking Luskentyre beach and hopefully fit in an early evening paddle before dinner.

Day 3-7.

The itinerary for the week is so often dictated by the weather and if it’s set fair, we will spend five days exploring the islands and sea lochs of Harris and Lewis. These include Taransay and Scarp with there pristine white beaches, sea caves. Wildlife abounds these rich waters incuding sea eagles, common and grey seals and a myriad of sea birds.  If we are very lucky perhaps minke whale, dolphins or perhaps Basking sharks although perhaps a little less guaranteed.

If the weather is less settled we will offer alternative activities which might inclde day trips to explore some of the islands caltural sites. These include sites such as the Callanish Stones and the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village to name but a few. 

Note: Prices include accommodation at the Kintail Outdoor Cente at the start and end of the trip along with transport and ferry costs.

 

     

What’s included in cost. We supply all kayaking equipment and clothing. You will be provided with a two man tent and sleep matt. Cooking set including gas and eating utensils. Transport to and from the Hebrides is also included in you package. 

What’s not included in cost:  We don’t supply food as part of the cost but do offer fully catered at an extra £15.00 per kayaking day. Sleeping bags are not included in the cost but can be provided at an extra £20.00 per trip. You will also require to come along with a selection of dry bags to store your essential items during expedition. We can will advice you sizes etc at time of booking.
