This week long sea kayaking experience takes us to the far north west coast of Scotland.
We will meet at the National Trust’s for Scotland’s centre at Morvich, where we will spend a day refreshing our skills and preparing for our kayaking week. On day two, we will travel to the Summer Isles, where after lunch will pack our kayaks and head out to explore this island archipelago and locate a perfect spot to spend our first night under canvas. The next two days will be spent exploring the network of Islands, where hopefully you would encounter seals, otters, dolphins and even an occasional minke whale.
The second half of the week will see us move North towards Scourie on the North Coast 500. From there we will undertake a circumnavigation of Handa Island which is a must visit for any sea kayaker. We will explore its network of caves and sea stacks while surrounded by thousands of sea birds.
Finally, if the weather allows no trip to the far north will be complete without paddling from Old shore more to Sandwood Bay. This 1.5 mile long beach flanked by sea cliffs and the imposing sea stack of Am Buachaille to the south is most definitely one of the best beaches to visit in the UK and a fitting end to the perfect week.
Due to the exposed nature of the NW coast, itineraries may be subject to change to take into account weather conditions on the day.
